Lefty's list of things lost

November 26, 2008 - Lefty's already had numerous wounds and he has been sick half his life, so you could say he's had his share of bad luck. Then again, you could just as well argue that he's been very lucky to still be alive despite all his misfortune. >Here's the short list:

• Lefty is missing both his upper incisors.
• He once lost part of his belly.
• The top of one of his fingers is missing.
• His left eye is often irritated.
• He's had countless colds, both harmless and life-threatening.

But now Lefty's lost something I'm sure he's glad to be rid off. A couple of weeks ago I discovered a nasty sort of red, fleshy lump/tumour on his belly, in the same spot where once a slice of skin came loose. The lump/tumour slowly grew, and did not really respond to antibiotics. Last weekend I finally decided to have the vet remove the tumour. And so I brought Lefty in this morning at about 8:45 AM. Just after 10:00 AM I got a call that the operation was successful, but Lefty had to stay there for a while to fully wake up. At 2:45 PM I (finally) got the call that I could pick him up again. :-D

After we got home I prepared my hospital cage, where Lefty will be spending the next week or so recovering. And he'd better hurry, because the new boys are already getting the better of Pancho.
