Rat injured after fight
July 7, 2006 - Yesterday afternoon a
male rat was badly injured, probably after
having a fight with one of his cage mates. The
wounded rat was discovered when the rats'
slave-owner brought them their daily treat.
"His face was one bloody mess" the slave-owner told this
reporter.
The rat was brought to the
Dierenkliniek Zuiderkaag
hospital, where surgery was needed to close the wound and stop the
bleeding. The rat was then released by the
attending vet, but had to return
shortly today because the wound was bleeding again.
At this moment no charges have been filed against any of
the rat's cage mates, partly because it is not
clear who caused the injury. The police are still looking for witnesses,
but thusfar none have come forward.
